Social nuances is described as a subtle or slight degree in difference. On the Canine Paradigm, the word nuances is often raised when we discuss training styles. however, it extends beyond just our interest of dogs and training.

We are living in a time of many social nuances, some that are quite strongly projected. To best discuss this, we brought in someone smarter than us to help diagnose the subject.

Birdy O’Sheedy has joined us again to offer her professional insight, not only on this but our old friend the ego.

Hopefully this episode will give you a few tools to better understand the ways we communicate.

Furthermore, you can reach out to Birdy if you are having difficulty with the world around us.

Additionally, there are many good people within our groups who help by just being available to talk with.

Coping with being bitten is quite an undertaking as it can really change your perspective. It really can be something difficult to comprehend as it feels so personal.

Being bitten can and does change your relationship with your dog as it can leave you feeling violated. It can make you question your confidence and safety with your dog and many times your ability as a trainer.

In this episode we try and make a little sense of why these things happen and give suggestions on how to cope. However, as we are not psychologists, we can only make recommendations when thoughts are too serious.

In the event you do find yourself struggling with your thoughts, we always recommend the council of a trained professional. One to examine the dogs behaviour and perhaps someone to help with your thoughts.

Dogs bite for a lot of reasons, therefore we suggest being aware of the events leading up to being bitten. Although this is a helpful suggestion, it may not always be practical.

Scent detection is an art form in dog training that is best described as a methodology with many nuances. Two very well respected trainers who are well known for their work in scent training join us for this episode.

Jerry Bradshaw and Cameron Ford join us again, this time together, to share their ideas and techniques in scent training.

Like most trainers, both of these gentlemen have their respective style. Although we may have our preferences, we can’t deny good training and results.

Making sense of scents is a skill set that all good detection trainers should strive for. Additionally, it not only improves the dogs we train but the students we coach.

We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did.

For more information or to contact them, Jerry is at Tarheel Canine and Cameron is at Ford K9

Sami Jo Menning has been learning to hunt with her father when she was a young girl. Now she has taken the next steps with her passion of hunting with dogs to teach other young ladies.

Seeing that it was a difficult sport/ hobby to get into, Sami has set up a group called, Her wilderness so other ladies can learn and be involved.

Not content at that alone, she is also teaching and competing in dock diving with her dogs. Sami is quite a dynamic young lady and a great role model for other ladies looking at learning how to safety learn hunting skills.
