Cam Ford & the scent detection avengers is another great episode that we got to have in person with our great friend, Cameron Ford.

Although the wonderful team of doctors and specialists that presented at the Australian K9 scent detection conference were not with us, we got to think about and discuss their wonderful work.

The scent detection world is so diverse and wonderfully eclectic that it deserves and demands peer review and high levels of study. we were very fortunate to be involved in the conference and to have spent more time with Cameron so we could pick his brain.

We had the opportunity not long ago to speak with Cameron and Jerry Bradshaw on this episode

Scent detection is an art form in dog training that is best described as a methodology with many nuances. Two very well respected trainers who are well known for their work in scent training join us for this episode.

Jerry Bradshaw and Cameron Ford join us again, this time together, to share their ideas and techniques in scent training.

Like most trainers, both of these gentlemen have their respective style. Although we may have our preferences, we can’t deny good training and results.

Making sense of scents is a skill set that all good detection trainers should strive for. Additionally, it not only improves the dogs we train but the students we coach.

We hope you enjoy this episode as much as we did.

For more information or to contact them, Jerry is at Tarheel Canine and Cameron is at Ford K9

Pat Nolan’s Covid project is a promising look into the potential of dogs being trained to detect Covid-19. We understand that there are no guarantees in this field, however it’s exciting nonetheless.

We’re very supportive of Pat Nolan being a part of this project as it has potential to change the world. It’s a part of our life for now to keep hearing the word Covid – 19 or Corona virus. We’re sick of it for the most part as it has stopped the world and disrupped what we know as normal.

However, we don’t mind hearing about Covid -19, if we have promising news about its demise. We have the people at Penn Vet working dog centre to thank for this project being available to test.

You can look into the type of work they are involved in with theis link, Penn Vet.

Pat and Penn Vet are appealing for donations at this time to help fund the effort. You can reach out to Pat Nolan on how you, the community or a business may be able to help.

We plan to catch up with Pat in the near future in regards to a Covid training update and what progess he has made.

During this time, we hope you’re all doing ok. As a result of this work we may see a covid free world someday.

Tobias Gustavsson is one of the team behind the Scandinavian Working Dog Institute. Tobias is not only involved in just training, he and his team are heavily involved in the science application.

If you know anything about scent detection, you will know that it is considered an evolving science. There are so many areas about Canine olfaction we are still learning about.

This is why it’s so important to have research teams like Tobias and his colleagues. if we want to get better at what we do, we need updated information.

Along with interviews like Cameron Ford and others who are involved in deep research, Tobias speaks of the importance of puppies

Tobias also shares with us a small part of history on how his former colleague came up with the Swedish Mentality test.

Web hope you enjoy another sensation interview with a leading trainer

Interviewing Pat Nolan was a great honour for us as it is with all our guests. It always adds to the polish when you have someone who is considered a cornerstone in our industry. Pat Nolan is a name deeply connected to the canine industry mainly through his long career in gun dogs.

Now when people think of Pat, they consider the early work he contributed to our modern day scent work.

This was one of the many interesting points of discussion we had in this podcast. starting with puppy imprinting and moving into the career of a working dog.

Many of the great operators in this industry have gained their ideas from people like Pat Nolan.
